Why We Do It

Public Relations is an enormous industry.   Each year in the UK alone, organisations spend some £2.5 billion on PR; worldwide, we estimate the total at around $100 billion per year.

Sadly, a significant amount of the money spent on PR is wasted.   Our research shows that around 35% of all PR expenditure is at best inexpert and at worst wasted entirely, due to poor planning, buying and management.

There are many factors behind this: the absence of intelligent objectives; the failure to manage investment or measure returns; and the ineffective use by inexperienced people of inappropriate resources.   All this is compounded by planning for the short term, not the long term; buying on price rather than value; focussing too much on 'how much to pay' and not enough on 'how much to spend'; and planning while looking backwards - 'this worked then', not 'what we need next'.

Gyroscope exists to reduce that wastage, and to enable our clients to use PR to its full potential in developing their organisations and their people.
